Statesman (Series II)

  • DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
  • Overview - An upgrade after the VP launch to incorporate new features from the VP. Changes included a different grill design, gas bonnet struts and side repeater lamps to keep in step with ADRs. The Series II did have the option of a V6.
  • Mechanical - Auto only with either V6 or V8 options
  • Interior - Front seat belt height adjusters
  • Exterior - Some cars built after November 1993 were fitted with an optional spoiler.

Caprice (Series II)

  • Overview - As per the Series II Statesman, the upgrade bought the Caprice inline with updated ADRs and the new VP equipment. Again distinctive alloys were used aswell as the spoiler found on later Series II Statesmans. The Caprice was not available as a V6.

Statesman SV90

  • PRICE ON RELEASE - $54775

  • DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
  • Overview - HSVs first prestige offering for the VN / VQ era and was not without problems. Fitted with the standard Statesman stereo system, many felt fell short of a vehicle in it's price range. Also the use of the SV5000 rims meant that a 15inch steel wheel painted yellow had to be used as a spare to prevent the larger rim fouling on the lid mechanism.
  • Mechanical - Available with the HSV 180kw V8, the front suspension was as per the SV5000 and where the Statesman had a second dummy pipe to give the appearence of a twin exhaust system the SV90 had a functional twin system.
  • Interior - Black Momo leather steering wheel, Howe leather sports seats with velour inserts and SV logo in seat back and HSV Traveller car phone mounted on passenger's side of transmission selector
  • Exterior - Available in Ruby Red with Caprice fog lights, body coloured grill and mirrors, SV3800 air dam and side skirts (elongated), small spoiler on trailing edge of bootlid as per SV89 special HSV badges on bonnet and rear garnish deleting the Holden items and a Holden Special Vehicles SV90 badge on driver's side rear garnish. Statesman 5000i (Series I)

  • DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
  • Overview - The 5000i can be distinguished from the SV90 by the wheel arch extensions (which are not present on the SV90) aswell as the two tone grey exterior scheme. The 5000i is notable as being the first Holden to include self levelling suspension which was adapted by HSV from the AC-Delco source item used on the Opel Omega wagon. Rather than having the yellow spare of the SV90, a 7inch wide version of the HSV Family Wheel was used as a spare.
  • Mechanical - Red rocker covers, fuel rail covers and front cover featuring the 5000i badge, modified SV5000 FE2 suspension including self levelling rear. dual exhaust exiting through a single oval exhaust tip
  • Interior - Howe leather sports seats with SV logo as per the SV90, black Momo leather steering wheel, leather and velour door trim and center console. Optional sunroof and car phone.
  • Exterior - Finished in Anthracite with Slate Grey side mouldings, bumpers and lower panels, Caprice fog lights, body coloured grill and mirrors, small extensions on leading edge of front wheel arches, SV3800 style airdam, Caprice side skirts, 5000i badges on rear of front wheel arch in side mouldings, SV89 spoiler, 17inch HSV Family Wheels which could be optioned with polished alloy finish, special HSV badges on bonnet and center of rear garnish with all Holden badges deleted. Later builds also had a chrome HSV badge on passenger side of the spoiler

Statesman 5000i (Series II)

  • Overview - The Series II 5000i was simply an upgrade of the existing model to the VP specifications. Changes included the introduction of anti-lock braking, Variotronic speed sensitive power steering, improved security features and the VP body computer
  • Mechanical - As for 5000i Series I plus a new stainless steel exhaust
  • Interior - As for 5000i Series I
  • Exterior - As for 5000i Series I but with the option of the 'P' type five spoke alloy rims in 17inch diameter as seen on the SV91 (VP Range)

Statesman SV93

  • DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
  • Overview - Essentially an update for the SV90 and a continuation of the long wheelbase SV models. The SV93 is notable for introducing IRS to the VQ range
  • Mechanical - As for SV90
  • Interior - Steel Blue interior trim with black dashboard and top edge of door trims, Devenish seats with leather side bolsters and velour facings embroidered with the SV93 logo in the front seats, leather Momo steering wheel and came standard with climate control, cruise control, nine function trip computer, electric windows, central locking and anti-theft electronics including an alarm
  • Exterior - Only available in Alpine White with lower panels finished in pearlescent bone, 'P' type alloy wheels, Caprice rear spoiler, body colour door handles, 'V8 Performance Enhanced' badge behind front wheel arches.
