SV VN Calais, info needed please

Postby richo7502000 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 1:26 pm

Hi Guys, Has been ages since my last post..Im now running a VYII HSV R8 and have the VS Clubby still too.
I have a question regarding my mates VN HSV Enhanced Calais.
I have seen this car and its quite interesting....its a two-tone Alpine White Calais, with that Pinky coloured lower half/bumpers.
It has the 200KW SV5000 Engine im pretty sure, its got Maroon/Red engine covers etc, and CAI the same as SV5000i too, also the Engine no. points towards a 200KW SV engine as it is # VE590452 . It has the SV5000 Guard extensions (spats) on the front guards too.
It only has Std VN Calais Interior fitted, it has SV5000 wheels and going by the Wheel placard these were original to the car.
The car also has the twin piston Corvette Brakes and bigger dia. discs fitted.

It has has an SV ID plate..
Build No.: 016 E1
Model: SV CC
Date: 4-5-90

The VIN is 6H8VNX19ULL426762

The HSV authenticate site agrees its a HSV but has no Model or Tag listed for it.

The guy has a HSV 1988-1991 book and it shows a reference to 4 VL Berlina Company Cars from HSV that had serious mods too that Were 'CC' Models meaning Company cars, but his book didnt mention the "Company cars" being released again for VN's.
So there ya go, can anyone shed any further light to what this car is for me, I reckon he has got a bit of a rare bird on his hands maybe???

Those mods are above most VN enhancement packs. I'd be leaning towards either a company or promotional car. I know there are a small number of cars floating around with a real mixed bag of factory performance mods.

I'd be interested in pics as well if you have any available.

Hi thanks for the info guys, I am leaning towards it being a company car for one of the Execs that was allowed to rummage through the HSV parts bins to get what they wanted. A few guys on Just commodore reckon this type of thing did happen and could be what he has.

Interesting car, thanks for the pics. Do you have anymore of interior at all. It definitly has the red 200 kw motor out of A SV5000 the date released puts it around the time of the VN T- 30's the first batch. its possible it could be a development car, possibly a model that never made it. Car used for testing , ( mayby prototype for series 2 VN T -30 as the driveline is the same ) but like yourself I would lean towards a company car. I have never seen one like it, thought it could be a SV 150 pk as thats what it looks like just with a 200 kw motor made for a worker or comany car. Interior shots and the dash plaque would help, also did any paperwork come with the car at all ?

cheers

Thanks for the photos Richo- it's an awesome looking car.

Being stamped CC pretty much cements it as a Company Car I'd think. It would be interesting to get details on previous owners.

This is the second funny I've come across lately- I got sent details of of a VQ 5000i development vehicle as well!

I was pretty sure it was the 200KW engine by the VE engine prefix, and backed up by the redish rocker covers.
Interior is exactly same as standard VN Calais silver velour, I cant remember what the dash badge actually had on it.
I will check it out next time I see him.
Cheers
